The bridge building project as I facilitate it typically needs one teacher, as our classes are relatively small here at Crestwood High School. In a school where class size exceeds 30 students, a second teacher would be necessary.
As an extension to this unit, it would be valuable to have a civil engineer come in and talk to the students about his/her responsibilities in the engineering field. This would take place before the project begins in an effort to get the kids excited about the bridge building project.
